How we handle your information

Metacta offers boutique advisory services. This page says plainly what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. If anything here is unclear, ask and we will answer in the same plain terms.

What we collect

If you book a consultation, our scheduling provider collects your name, your email address, the time you chose, and anything you type into that form.

If you answer the questions, we store your answers and the summary written from them. That submission is anonymous: it is not attached to a name or an email address unless you later book a conversation or leave your email address, at which point it is attached to you.

If you leave your email address so Glenn can reply, or you sign up for perspectives, we store your email address.

If you become a client, we store what the work requires: notes, the record of our conversations, and material you send us.

We do not buy contact details, and we do not collect anything about you from anywhere other than you.

Why we collect it

To reply to you, to prepare for a conversation, and to keep an accurate record of a professional relationship. Your answers exist so the conversation starts further along than it otherwise would.

We treat your answers as personal information, because in combination with your email address they are.

Marketing

We only send perspectives to people who asked for them. Consent is never assumed from having booked a consultation or from having been in touch, those are separate things, and we keep them separate in our records.

Every marketing email carries a working unsubscribe. You can also just reply and say stop, and we will do it by hand.

Who else handles it

We use a small number of providers, each for one job:

  • Supabase, which hosts our database and file storage.
  • Calendly, which runs the booking calendar.
  • Our website host, which serves these pages.
  • An email provider, for acknowledgments and perspectives, once one is in place.

Nobody else counts our visitors. We do that ourselves, in the database above, so no analytics company ever sees you.

Each of them handles data on our instructions and for no other purpose. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising.

Where it lives, and how long

Our database, our file storage, and our records are hosted in the United States. We do not move client information outside the United States.

We delete the records of people who never became a client and with whom nothing has happened for twenty-four months. That is enforced automatically on a schedule, not left to memory. Client records are kept as long as the professional relationship and our obligations require. The page counts described under Cookies are kept for a little over a year and then deleted, on the same schedule as everything else.

Our internal change log keeps a record of what happened to a record, that a person was added, changed, or erased, for the same twenty-four months. It deliberately holds no names or email addresses, so an erasure genuinely removes you from it.

What you can ask for

  • A copy of what we hold about you.
  • A correction, if something is wrong.
  • Deletion. We will erase your record, your answers, and your history. What remains is a dated note that an erasure happened, carrying nothing that identifies you.
  • To stop receiving anything, at any time.

Write to us and we will confirm it is you before acting, then do it. We do not charge for this and we do not make it difficult.

Cookies

We use no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking.

We count page views ourselves, without a cookie and without a third party. We keep the page you opened, the site that sent you if there was one, and the date. Beside it we keep a scrambled value that stands in for a visitor, so that two pages read in one afternoon count as one person rather than two. That value is built fresh every day, cannot be turned back into you, and cannot be matched to the same person tomorrow. We do not store your address, your browser, or where you are.

If you answer the questions, we set one small cookie so that if you later book or leave your email address, we can attach your answers to you. It holds a single reference to your submission, nothing about you, expires after thirty days, and cannot be read by scripts.

Signing in to our admin sets a session cookie, which is only relevant to us.

Children

This is a service for senior business leaders. It is not intended for anyone under eighteen, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change how we handle information, we will change this page and date it. Material changes will be obvious rather than buried.
